Shipping Container Pools in 20ft, 30ft, 40ft and 12m
A container pool is a swimming pool built inside a Corten steel shipping container shell. It arrives as a finished vessel rather than something poured and tiled in your yard, which is why people choose it: the pool itself is built off site, and the work at your property is siting, plumbing and finishing rather than months of excavation.
Every shipping container pool Atlas carries is new. The range runs 20ft, 30ft, 40ft and a 12m / 40ft model, mostly in a black or dark powder-coated finish over Corten steel, with some units supplied with timber-effect surround decking. Several models include reinforced glass or acrylic viewing panels set into the side wall, which read well on a sloped lot or where the pool sits partly raised above grade. One model in the range is a mobile foldable pool rather than a fixed container build. Depths vary between models, so check the specification on the product page.
Picking a length
- 20ft. A plunge pool. Good for cooling off, small yards and courtyards, and the easiest of the three to place.
- 30ft. Enough length for genuine lap swimming without taking over the whole yard.
- 40ft and 12m. A full lap pool with room for a group. Needs the most space, the largest base and the most demanding delivery access.
Depth is worth thinking about honestly. These pools are shallow by design, typically around 4ft on the standard models, which is comfortable for standing, wading, exercise and lap swimming. None of them is a diving pool, and none should ever be used as one. Confirm the depth of the specific model you are ordering on its product page.
What a Container Pool Requires at Your Property
Atlas supplies the pool as manufactured and inspected. We do not install pools, prepare ground, run plumbing, set equipment or handle permitting. Plan for the following, and get quotes before you buy:
- A prepared base. A container pool full of water is extremely heavy. It needs a level, engineered pad or pier system designed for the load, ideally specified by a local engineer or an experienced pool contractor. Bare soil or loose gravel is not adequate.
- Excavation, if you want it partly or fully in-ground. That is separate contractor work, and below-grade installation brings its own drainage and structural considerations.
- Plumbing and filtration. Pump, filter, circulation lines and any heating must be installed and connected by a qualified pool professional.
- Electrical. Pool equipment requires a licensed electrician, with the bonding and GFCI protection your code demands. This is a safety issue, not a formality.
- A crane or heavy lift. Most placements need one. Book it in advance and confirm the crane can reach the spot.
- Permits and fencing. Nearly every jurisdiction regulates pool barriers, gates, setbacks and inspection. Rules vary widely by city and county. Check with your building department before ordering.
Delivery and Access
Container pools ship on specialized tilt-bed trailers to the lower 48 states, at one flat shipping rate per order shown at checkout. Access matters more here than with ordinary storage units, because these are long, heavy, and awkward to reposition once set. Walk the route in advance: gate widths, turning room, overhead lines, soft ground and low branches all decide whether the day goes smoothly. Send us photos or measurements through the contact page if you are unsure.
Ordering Terms
Order handling takes one to three business days, with transit usually three to seven. Each shipping container pool is inspected before dispatch. Checkout is by direct bank transfer. A 30-day return policy applies, and return freight plus a restocking fee may apply, so confirm your site works before you commit. See the FAQ for ordering questions, the buyers guide for siting and access, or browse the wider shop.
