Description
An 18+4 Flatbed Rated for 16,900 lbs of Machinery
Move up to the 21K class and the numbers change character. This new 2024 Rice Promax Industrial, model FMHDMH8222 in black, pairs a 21,000 lb gross rating with only 4,100 lbs of empty weight, so 16,900 lbs is available for the machine on the deck. That is skid steer, mini excavator and compact tractor territory, and it puts the trailer well past what a typical 14K equipment hauler will legally carry.
The 18+4 layout splits the deck into an 18 ft flat section and a 4 ft beavertail. Full-width fold-up ramps meet that beavertail so tracked and wheeled machines climb on across the entire deck width instead of threading two narrow ramp channels in a mirror. Each 5 ft ramp is spring assisted, which is what makes this a one-person loading job rather than a two-person one.
Hitching is the other place the effort has been engineered out. A hydraulic jack was specified alongside the standard 10,000 lb jack, so lining up a heavy tongue on uneven ground is a matter of holding a switch. Two 7,000 lb cambered EZ Lube braked axles sit under a 6 in channel tongue and main frame with 3 in formed channel crossmembers, and pressure-treated decking handles the abuse that tracks and outriggers hand out.

At this weight class the trailer is rarely the limiting factor. Check your truck first: the combined rating, the receiver or pintle rating, the rear axle load and the brake controller all need to sit above the loaded figure, and in most states a 21K trailer changes what license and paperwork you need. Worth settling before delivery rather than after.
On deck length, measure the machine plus the room you need for chains and binders at four corners. Equipment that fits nose to tail on 18 ft often does not fit once you allow for a proper tie-down angle, and the beavertail is loading ramp rather than carrying surface. A new unit like this one needs no restoration work, though it is still worth cycling the ramps, the hydraulic jack and the break-away kit before the first haul.
Delivery is free anywhere in the Lower 48, runs 4 to 10 days from cleared payment, and costs a flat $550 to Puerto Rico. Similar heavy units are listed under container chassis and trailers, and you can work through the whole catalog if you are still weighing sizes.
