Description
Three Head Behind a Bumper Hitch, With Tack Storage Sorted
Stepping up to three horses does not have to mean stepping up to a gooseneck and the truck that goes with it. This used 2000 Morgan Built gives 17 ft 8 in. of floor length, 6 ft 6 in. of width and a roomy 7 ft 6 in. of height on a bumper pull hitch, so a properly rated truck or large SUV can move three head to a show or a trailhead.
Stall width is where the comfort comes from: 41 inches pin to pin is generous for a trailer of this vintage, and padded dividers telescope, with an extra divider catch so you can set the interior up differently depending on which horses are travelling. Rubber mats through the horse area take the edge off the ride and give grip, one air vent per horse keeps air moving, and drop-down feed windows make roadside feeding a two-minute job.
The tack side is equally practical. A carpeted tack room with ten bridle hooks and a three-place swingout saddle rack keeps gear organised and swings clear when you need to load, and the onboard water tank means horses stay hydrated at shows and overnight stops without hauling jugs in the truck bed. Double rear doors with windows let light into the interior and give a wider opening at loading time.

As a used trailer this is the value end of the three-horse market, and the way to buy at that end is to look hard at the wear items. Floor and mats come first, then tires by age as well as tread, then lights, wiring and brake function. None of that is unusual for a trailer of this age; it just needs checking before the first long trip rather than after.
On the towing side, work from the loaded weight rather than the empty one. Three horses plus tack, water and hay adds up quickly, and a bumper pull puts all of that on the hitch and the rear axle, so a weight-distributing setup and a brake controller matched to the trailer are worth having. If your horses are on the taller side, the 7 ft 6 in. height here is the specification that makes this rig work where a 7 ft trailer would not.
