Description
A Steel Gooseneck That Still Does the Job Twenty Years On
Titan has been building horse trailers long enough that a well-kept example from 2001 is still a sensible purchase, and this three-horse gooseneck is a straightforward, durable version of the type. Steel construction means it is heavier than an aluminum equivalent and also simpler to repair, which is part of why so many of these are still working.
The gooseneck layout is the reason to choose it over a bumper pull. Coupling over the rear axle of the truck rather than behind the bumper puts the pin weight where the chassis can carry it, which shows up as steadier handling in crosswinds, a tighter turning circle at a showground gate and far less of the wagging that a heavily loaded bumper pull can develop. With three horses moving around behind you, that stability is worth a great deal.
Inside, the 7 ft 3 in interior height works out to about 21.75 hands of clearance, enough headroom for taller horses that would be ducking in an older seven-foot trailer. The box runs 16 ft, giving three animals room to stand without crowding, and the 4 ft short-wall dressing room up front keeps saddles, blankets and grooming kit protected and out of the horse area. Against a 9,760 lb GVWR and roughly 3,800 lbs of empty weight, the payload margin is comfortable for three horses plus tack.

Buying a steel trailer of this age means the floor and the frame matter more than the paint. Once it arrives, pull the mats and go over the floor properly, paying attention to the seams and the area behind the wheels where urine and moisture collect. Look for surface rust versus scaling rust, which are very different problems, and check inside the frame members where you can reach them.
On the mechanical side, test each brake, read the tire date codes rather than judging by tread depth, and grease the jack. Your truck needs a gooseneck ball or hitch plate rated above the 9,760 lb GVWR and a brake controller set up for the trailer. Dimensions and weights on a trailer this age should be treated as approximate, so measure your own horses against the stall space before you commit.
Delivery inside the Lower 48 is included at no charge, Puerto Rico is a flat $550, and orders generally arrive 4 to 10 days after the bank transfer clears. Compare it against the rest of our three horse trailers, look through the full catalog for other layouts, or read the shipping policy before you order.
