Description
An Aluminum Dump Body That Will Not Rot Out From Under You
Steel dump beds lose to chemistry eventually. Salted gravel, wet mulch and yard debris sit in the corners, moisture wicks into the seams, and five or six seasons later the floor is thinner than it looks. The 2024 Cargo Pro CODP6X12 sidesteps that entirely with an all-aluminum body and extruded aluminum decking, which is also why it tips the scales at only 2,152 lb empty.
That light frame is what makes the payload interesting. Against a 9,990 lb GVWR you are left with 7,838 lb of capacity, unusually generous for a 6×12 deck, and the trailer stays under the 10,000 lb line that matters for licensing in a lot of places.
Landscapers, grading contractors, small demolition crews and property owners who move their own topsoil all end up in the same spot: they want one trailer that hauls material out and equipment back. The rear barn doors swing open and the ramp kit stows on board, so a walk-behind, a compact loader or a pair of mowers can roll onto the same deck that dumped a load of stone that morning.

One caution on loading: dense material fills the box long before it fills the rating, and the reverse trap is worse. Wet gravel runs close to 3,000 lb per cubic yard, so with 24-inch sides you can heap this bed well past the axle rating while it still looks half empty. Load to weight, not to the sight line. Keep an eye on hydraulic fluid level and battery charge as well, since a dump pump that sits all winter is the most common no-start on the jobsite.
Confirm your truck runs a 2-5/16 in ball at the right rating and that the brake controller is set up before the first trip. Against steel dump trailers in this size class you trade a little sidewall stiffness for roughly a thousand pounds of extra payload and a body that shrugs off corrosion.
