Description
A 28-Foot Race Hauler You Can Rearrange at Will
Most enclosed trailers force you to live with whatever layout the factory welded in. The LifeTrac system on this 2026 ATC ROM 550 does the opposite: cabinets, seating, wall hooks and helmet racks mount to track and come back off when your program changes. A trailer set up for two bikes in spring becomes a car hauler with a work bench by autumn, without a single new hole in the wall.
The shell backing that flexibility is serious. A .040 black screwless aluminum exterior sits over insulated aluminum walls and ceiling, with 40-inch carpet up the walls and black coin flooring underfoot, so the bay stays quieter and holds temperature better than a bare box. Dual 6,000 lb spread torsion axles carry the weight, and a 56-inch extended triple tube tongue with two bogey wheels makes hitching and shuffling around a paddock far less awkward.
At the back, a beavertail with a 24-inch stoneguard and a 4,000 lb ramp door with transition flap flatten the loading angle for low cars, while a rear spoiler with three LED lights covers the work area. The 50-amp electrical package with A/C prep and awning prep means the trailer is ready to become a base camp rather than just transport. ATC backs the build with a 5-year structural warranty from the manufacturer.

Planning the Build Before It Arrives
Twenty-eight feet on 12,000 lb of axle capacity gives you a car plus tools, spares and fuel with margin left over, so the limiting factor is usually the truck rather than the trailer. Check your tow vehicle’s rating against the loaded weight and its bed height against the extended tongue, because a long tongue changes turning geometry more than people expect, mostly for the better once you are used to it.
The other thing to settle ahead of the delivery date is deciding how you will use LifeTrac. Sketch where cabinets, a bench, a wheel rack and seating should sit before the trailer lands, because it is far easier to order the right components once than to shuffle them twice. Leave clear space beside the driver’s door if you use the escape door regularly, and keep the heaviest storage ahead of the axles.
Freight to the Lower 48 costs nothing, Puerto Rico is quoted at a flat $550, and delivery typically lands four to ten days after your bank transfer clears.
