Description
Current-Model Features Without the New-Trailer Invoice
A lightly used trailer from the current generation is often the smartest buy in the horse world. You get today’s safety features, today’s LED lighting and today’s materials, and someone else has already absorbed the first drop in value. This 2022 Sundowner three horse slant-load gooseneck is exactly that proposition, with stainless corrugated sides and a polished roof rail that still look showground-ready.
The dressing room is carpeted and fitted with rubber floor mats, bridle hooks, an interior light and an extra location for a saddle rack, so gear stays dry and organized rather than piled in a corner. Step through to the horse compartment and the side walls are lined, the dividers padded, with roof vents overhead and interior lighting the length of the bay, all of which make a long haul easier on three animals.
Airflow and safety are handled properly. Drop-down windows with face guards on the head side let air move past each horse’s head without exposing them, sliding windows at the rear complete the circuit, and an escape door on the first stall gives you a way out that does not involve squeezing past a horse. The fold-up rear tack with a three-tier saddle rack keeps tack within reach yet stows out of the way when you need the full floor.

What a Three-Year-Old Trailer Should Still Give You
The upkeep argument matters here. Stainless and LED lighting mean fewer corroded fasteners and fewer bulb failures than an older rig will hand you, and padded dividers and lined walls reduce the scuffing that makes a used interior look tired. Those are the parts that are expensive to put right later, so a trailer that arrives with them in good order is worth more than the spec sheet suggests.
Before committing, confirm the gooseneck coupler matches your truck’s bed-mounted hitch and that your truck is rated for the loaded weight with the pin over the rear axle. On arrival, check the floor beneath the mats, read the manufacture dates on the tires rather than judging by tread, and cycle every drop-down window and face guard to make sure the latches move freely. Test the rear spoiler unload lights too, since they are easy to overlook until you need them in a dark parking lot.
