Description
Overnight Comfort in an All-Aluminum Three-Horse
A Weekender is a specific thing: enough living quarters to stay out overnight without the length, weight and price of a full living-quarters rig. This 2002 Silverado does it in all-aluminum construction at 7 ft 2 in tall and 6 ft 8 in wide, which keeps the whole package manageable behind a properly equipped truck.
The living space is finished in real wood rather than laminate panel, which gives it a warmth that photographs poorly and lives well. A two-burner cooktop and a sink handle cooking and cleanup, and the fridge and freezer are large for a Weekender, meaning you can stock for a long weekend instead of running to town every morning. Windows on each side of the gooseneck bring daylight in from two directions, a roof vent keeps air turning over, and a manual awning with new fabric extends your shade at camp.
The horse area is equipped in proportion. Rear tack with a swing-out saddle rack and ten bridle hooks covers gear for three riders, double rear doors with a window and a load light make evening loading practical, and padded dividers, rubber mats, drop-down head-side windows, tail-side windows and roof vents cover comfort and airflow. A hay rack with a ladder puts feed overhead and out of the stalls.

Those stall widths are the number to sit with before anything else. A 25.5 in second stall is on the narrow side by modern standards, comfortable for stock-type horses and ponies and tight for a heavy warmblood, so measure your animals at the shoulder and decide honestly whether the second position suits them. The 103-inch stall length is generous and will not be the constraint.
On a used living-quarters trailer the appliances are their own inspection. Run the cooktop, cool the fridge down and confirm the freezer holds, fill and drain the sink, and check for staining around the roof vent that would point to a past leak. Aluminum resists rust well, which is the main advantage of a trailer this age being aluminum rather than steel, but you should still lift the mats and look at the floor, check tire date codes and test the brakes.
Towing means a bed-mounted gooseneck hitch on a truck rated for the loaded weight with three horses, tack and a stocked fridge aboard. When you are ready, delivery across the Lower 48 is free and Puerto Rico is a flat $550, with a 4 to 10 day window after your bank transfer settles. More options sit in Three Horse Trailers, and our delivery terms explain what happens on arrival.
