Description
Four Stalls, Upgraded Height and a Tack Room That Earns Its Keep
Hauling four horses is a different proposition from hauling two, and the 2019 Trails West Classic II is built accordingly. The upgraded 7 ft 4 in interior height gives taller horses genuine clearance above the poll, the 7 ft width and 21 ft 8 in floor length keep four animals from feeling stacked, and at 4,773 lbs empty the trailer is substantial without being unmanageable behind a properly rated truck.
Structure is where this model spends its money. Six thousand pound torsion axles with easy-lube hubs run four-wheel electric brakes on radial tires, with a sturdy 2-5/16 in coupler at the front. The floor is 2 x 10 Douglas fir, the roof is one-piece aluminum, and the gate hinges are galvanized. The triple-wall smooth exterior wears a multi-stage finish that starts with phosphatizing pre-treatment and ends with infrared-cured polyurethane over epoxy primer, which is a considerably more involved paint process than a single-coat enamel.
The horses get proper attention too. Each stall has a drop-down feed door with a safety grill, a tailside sliding window, a rotary slam-latch divider with gas-shock holdback, a flush-mounted pop-up vent, rubber floor and wall mats and its own light. Stalls run 41 in pin to pin with a 129 in diagonal. Up front the upgraded tack room adds rubber mats, a camper vent, a sealed angle wall, twelve powder-coated bridle hooks, four headstall holders and swing-out saddle and blanket racks. Ticking the Convenience Package added a water tank, three load lights on the outside, an organizer mounted to the door, a sport bag and a spare tire.

Before ordering, do the loaded arithmetic. Four horses at an average of 1,100 lbs each, plus tack, hay, a full water tank and the trailer’s own 4,773 lbs, adds up quickly, and your truck’s rating plus a 2-5/16 in ball must sit comfortably above that total. A brake controller matched to four-wheel electric brakes is not optional at this weight.
Even on a low-mileage 2019, a used trailer deserves a methodical once-over after it arrives. Probe the Douglas fir floor under the mats, read the tire date codes, test each brake individually, and check that every slam-latch divider and gas shock still works cleanly, since a stiff divider is a real problem with a horse standing next to it.
