Description
A Tall Aluminum Gooseneck Already Set Up for the Road
Height is the specification that rules out most two-horse trailers for owners of warmbloods and drafts, and this 2000 C&C clears that hurdle with 7 ft 6 in. inside. It is an all-aluminum build with a rear ramp and a dressing room that opens through a walk-thru door to the horses, and it has been kept and equipped by someone who clearly used it rather than stored it.
The aluminum body is the reason a trailer from this year is still a sensible buy. Aluminum keeps the overall weight down and does not rust the way a steel shell does after two decades of wet trailheads and salted winter roads, so the structure ages far better than the calendar suggests.
What has been added matters as much as what it came with. A two-camera system with an in-truck monitor means you can watch both horses the entire trip instead of guessing at the next rest stop. An 11 ft awning gives you shade wherever you park, for tacking up and cooling out, a fan sits over each stall for hot show days, and two escape doors give a safe way out on either side. New aluminum rims, near-new heavy-duty tires and all-new LED lighting take the usual first-year maintenance list off the table.

Two details are worth understanding before you buy. The first is the blocked axles: raising the axles corrects the nose-high stance that older goosenecks take on behind modern trucks with taller beds, so this one should sit level rather than pitching your horses downhill. The second is the rear ramp, which is easier on older horses and on anything reluctant to step up, though it does add weight and needs its hinges and springs checked periodically.
Beyond that, treat it like any used gooseneck. Confirm your truck bed carries a properly rated and properly installed hitch, look over the floor and the mats, and test the brakes and the camera feed on a short run before a long one. The fresh rims, tires and lighting mean the near-term maintenance here is genuinely lighter than on a comparable trailer of the same age.
